We, the association Dampflokfreunde Salzwedel e.V., jointly operate the Museum Historischer Lokschuppen Wittenberge on a voluntary basis and in our spare time. Our aim is to preserve valuable contemporary articles of railway history in a living museum for posterity and to set up a memorial with the former Wittenberge locomotive depot, as one of the once most important centres in the north-east German railway network. We hope you have enjoyed the fruits of our work. Every helping hand is more than welcome in taking part in our multi-faceted and extensive activities. Just pay us a visit. Alongside this, it is important to ensure that financing the museum's operations is secured. There are very substantial sums to be disbursed. Power, water, heating, insurance and operating supplies alone account for a substantial four-figure sum every month. Apart from this, certain developments need to be financed, both on the infrastructure side as well as for the restoration and maintenance of our exhibits.
If you would like to support our activities financially, we would be extremely grateful. You would be helping to preserve a significant piece of German history for future generations. If you wish to make a donation, the account of the Verein Dampflokfreunde Salzwedel e.V. should be used.

The association enjoys charitable status within the German Fiscal Code and you are therefore able to set off donations against tax. We will be pleased to send you a donation receipt if you notify us your address, the details of which will of course be treated in the strictest confidence. In the case of large donations, we do however reserve the right not to be mentioned in connection with political or other connections which are not in harmony with the aims of our society.
