When you visit the museum, you will first come to our preserved signal box Wm at the entrance to the museum premises. It was in operation until the turn of the millennium. Points and signals on the former Magdeburg side of the station were controlled from here. The barriers protecting the track still recognisable in front of it and some others were also controlled from here. Earlier, anyone wanting to go to the station had to pass this building. Long-time residents of Wittenberge tell that the barriers were closed so often that they used to prefer using the pedestrian tunnel which burrowed under the tracks at about the position of the signal. This tunnel was blocked off at the beginning of 2000.
WM stands for "Wittenberge Mitte“. It is one of five signal boxes originally on the station at and is the only one surviving.
