Turntable

Alongside the route between loco shed No. 2 and the water plant there are parts of a turntable which you wouldn't be able to see if they were installed.
On one side we see the drive unit from the Parchim turntable which it is planned eventually to install in the floor where loco shed No. 1 once stood. The drive gearing which transmits the power from the electric motor mounted on it to the driving wheels (presently not fitted) underneath the unit, is contained in this unit. It is also possible to connect a heavy cable-winch to the drive which makes it possible to haul unpowered vehicles onto the turntable.
