Our workshop hall for rail vehicles is also reached from the connecting corridor between the workshop and the loco shed itself. This area was earlier open to the loco shed, and the dividing wall on the right of the picture was inserted as part of the work when the museum was designed. This created an enclosed room in which museum society members are able to carry out dirty or noisy work. without interfering with museum visitors in any way.
The picture also shows a working gallery of which the standing area can be folded up out of the way whenever it is required to shunt vehicles into or out of the hall. The gallery was recovered from the former Salzwedel motive power depot and installed in Wittenberge. It makes it possible to reach and to work on the upper levels of vehicles without having to resort to the use of ladders.
