Towards the rear of the museum's premises we find the depot's water plant. In the tower, into the mid-2000s there were large steel water tanks with a capacity of about 350 m³ (almost 80,000 gallons). The water was principally used for supplying steam locomotives. It was fed through large-diameter underground pipes to the water cranes located at many points around the depot. In the meantime, the tanks have been removed, and the building itself is currently virtually empty.
