16.09.2016: Deck-testing work on the new turntable

We reported in spring that we were planning the long-term reconstruction of locomotive shed 1 and that the first step would be to rebuild a turntable on a historical site. For this purpose, we acquired the deck of the Parchim turntable and transported it to Wittenberge. Before we can proceed with further planning, however, it will be necessary to carry out a material test on the purchased parts first, as the main girders will be expected to be able to carry a weight of around 200 tonnes and any material fatigue would be fatal. The test has now been carried out with good results.
